Analogies Explaining Chiropractic

August 30, 2016

Much like your dentist helps prevent disease of the mouth and decay of teeth and gums, the Chiropractor will help prevent the degeneration of your spine and the nerve interference, dysfunctional movement patterns, and symptoms that come along with it. Everyone knows they are supposed to go see their dentist once a year for x-rays and several times a year for cleanings and check-ups. Wouldn’t it make sense to have your spine screened and checked for possible problems?

In this analogy your body is the house, medical doctors are the fire department, and doctors of chiropractic are the contractors – the guys who know how to build, renovate and maintain houses. If you’re house catches on fire, who are you going to call? Obviously, you’re going to call the fire department because you need the people trained to deal with emergencies like this one. Once the fire is out, and the fire department leaves, what are you going to do to rebuild your house and get your life back? You need the people who rebuild, renovate, remodel, your house making it functional again.

We all understand the responsibilities that come along with owning a car. It’s going to get regularly filled up with the proper fuel needed to make that car run efficiently. At some point in time, you’re going to take it in for routine maintenance to make sure everything is in working order. In some cases you may be forced to take it in for repair work if something on it stops working or you get into an accident. The same holds true for your body.

The best way to prevent disease is to be proactive about your health by eating a balanced diet and participating in regular activity, even if it’s just walking 30 minutes a day. Don’t wait until your body breaks down to seek help.

Chiropractors act as a mechanic for your body by finding and correcting any muscular imbalances, postural dysfunctions, improper movement patterns and anything else that would cause you trouble down the road.
